A passive audience is when an audience watching a media thinks that what this media message is is 100% truth full and should be followed. For example, The Wisconsin girls that killed their classmate as they were influenced by slender man. Due to them thinking he was going to kill their family. This was in 2014.

An active audience is the opposite of the passive audience when they want to try and interpret what the media text is showing them and try and break it down.

Hyoidernuc Needle Theory
- Theorises that audiences are essentially passive, and will readily absorb messages relayed to them by the media.
- This means that, after watching a violent horror film or playing a violent POV shooter, audience members will be negatively influenced.
- This presupposes that audiences are passive rather than active.

 Desensitised - that is, numbed by the effect of this exposure as well as themes and content.

Phycho:
Came out in 1960. When people watched it they were passing out and vomiting

What made is scary:
- The music
- Scream
- hiding the face
- Blood

Kerrang! Advertising They are going for a vice-like approach being their youtube presents meaning advertising and making videos on youtube. Tie in with big brands, for example, monster energy drink, guitar brands. Kerrang Youtube page They have links to the website and social media to get people engaged with their brand and to notice them. As well as a link to the subscription for the magazine to get more people engaged with the magazine. Intervewis links to 'The K! Pit. and various other featues. Google search gives Kerrang as the frist on the search bar. They have a facebook page and give links and things that give the audine that are interested to be more engaged.
